about
Bristol’s experimental collective Ishmael Ensemble return with another re-imagined "version" from their highly praised 2nd album 'Visions Of Light'. This time courtesy of South London based producer Medlar. Pete & Ned (Medlar) have been making music together since school, the two cut their teeth DJing in and around the Bristol area as teenagers and have continued to collaborate ever since. His club heavy spin on Soma Centre is nothing short of a peak time banger, lazers galore and a bassline to make your chest rattle.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
More richly-textured, ultra-rhythmic electro-acoustic jams from LA's Mark de Clive-Lowe, assisted here by an Italian rhythm section. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 25, 2020
